To qualify for a merchant account, you must have an established storefront or e-commerce website located in the United States that sells new fashion items, including clothing, shoes, or accessories.
We use Stripe Connect and Shopify Payments to manage and process sales on the Platform. In order to sell your products on the Platform, your store must:
- Have an active Shopify store;
- Sell products that fit into one or more of the following categories: women’s clothing, jewelry, watches, shoes, accessories, handbags, and cosmetics;
- Enable Shopify Payments to sell through the Couture Lane Sales Channel; and
- Post its Shipping Policy and Return, Exchange, and Refund Policy on the store website.
If you meet these initial criteria, you can apply for a Platform merchant account by installing the Couture Lane Sales Channel and completing our registration form. We will review your registration information and website to ensure that your store meets our criteria and typically respond to registration requests in 3 business days. We have the right to reject any registration form for any or no reason.
If your registration is accepted for the Platform, you must enable Shopify Payments to process payments made through the Platform. We will assist you in creating a Stripe Account if necessary, on the condition that 1) you guarantee that all information provided as part of the onboarding process is accurate and complete and 2) you expressly agree to comply with the Stripe Connected Account Agreement available here. By signing up for a Stripe Account and/or enabling Shopify Payments, you agree to the terms of the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
Through the Shopify Payments system, we access your product catalog, including product images, descriptions, prices, and shipping information. We use this data to post your products on our Platform, obtain orders from customers, and send you information about your products that are ordered by customers so you can fulfill their orders. By enabling your Shopify store to sell through the Couture Lane Sales Channel, you agree that we may communicate any data that we collect from you to Stripe.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company, and its directors, officers, affiliates, employees, representatives, and agents, from any claim, suit, demand, harm, or damage arising from or related to the information that you provide to Stripe, your use of the Stripe Connect services, or your violation of the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
Posting Items on the Platform
All items posted on the Platform by merchants must be approved by our team prior to posting. We reserve the right to reject any item for posting on the Platform for any reason, at our sole discretion. We may require a minimum stock quantity for any items posted on the Platform, which we will set at our discretion and may change at any time. The Company does not charge any fees to list items for sale on the Platform.
Prices, Payment, and Fees
The merchant is responsible for setting the prices for all items listed on its merchant account, including all taxes, fees, and shipping costs required to be paid by the merchant. You are required to honor all prices set at the time that a buyer places an order of your items.
When a buyer initiates a purchase through the Platform, the purchase is managed by the Couture Lane Sales Channel, Shopify, and Stripe. Order Acceptance and Shipping
When a buyer orders an item posted by you on the Platform, you will receive an email and notification in your account of the order. You are responsible for adhering to the shipping costs and procedures according to the Shipping Policy posted on your website. If you cannot fulfill the order on time, you must contact us immediately.
Returns, Exchanges, and Refunds
You are responsible for adhering to the Return, Exchange, and Refund Policy posted on your website. If a buyer returns an item and receives a refund, the Company will refund the 15% fee collected for the item by deducting this amount from the next order or Platform payout for your account.
The Company provides merchants on the Platform with the following Platform Services: providing and maintaining the Platform according to the Terms, assisting merchants with Shopify Payments and/or Stripe Account onboarding, customer service related to the functionality of the Platform, handling user complaints about merchants, support related to connecting to and using the Platform, and dispute resolution with buyers to the extent such disputes are related to the Platform’s functionality.
The merchant is solely responsible for all other services related to using the Platform to sell its products, including, but not limited to, communicating with buyers and potential buyers about products posted on the Platform, shipping purchased products, and refunds, exchanges, and refunds of purchase products, including any buyer dissatisfaction with the merchant’s products or services. By using the Platform, you authorize the Company to provide the Platform Services and understand that you are responsible for all remaining services related to selling your products on the Platform.
Licenses and Permits
You are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining all licenses, permits, and registrations required to sell items on the Platform.
You understand that you and your employees and contractors are not agents, employees, or representatives of the Company, and you are not authorized to bind the Company to any liability or obligation or to represent that you have any such authority. You are solely liable for all the taxes, fees, and commissions resulting from use of the Platform. Braintree will issue your company a 1099 form each year, and you will be solely responsible for reporting your income to the necessary agencies.
Account or Item Removal
You may stop using or delete your merchant account upon 30-days’ written notice to us at email@example.com. Once your account is deleted, we may not be able to recover any information related to your account.
